Everyday Victim Blaming

challenging institutional disbelief around domestic & sexual violence and abuse

I was sexually assaulted by my partner

I was raped by my partner (such as waiting till I was asleep to penetrate me), and raped by coercion ('why do you think I got with you?' 'I deserve it' !)

I also think it's important to say men sexually assault their partners. My last partner felt he could grab my breasts or vulva at will without any warning, for instance usually if we were in bed before sleep. You couldn't call it foreplay! It was just proprietorial.

I think some partners think we are property and so they can grab us intimately whenever. As I think all women know, it's not a pleasant sensation! When he stroked my breasts or whatever, he'd say 'oh, don't flinch!' - as if I were the one in the wrong.
