Everyday Victim Blaming

challenging institutional disbelief around domestic & sexual violence and abuse

The Representation of Women in the Media Matters

Male violence against women and girls is both a cause and a consequence of women's inequality. Using a photo of the husband of the first female candidate for President of the United States who secured her party's nomination is a quintessential example of how the media misrepresents, minimises and obfuscates women's successes. Media help create and support the conducive context in which male violence against women and girls thrives. There is simply no excuse for using an image of former President Bill Clinton's image instead of that of the actual candidate for President. Screen Shot 2016-07-27 at 15.00.16
